New Layouts and a Guest Designer Spot!

Hi guys!  Here are a few new layouts I've been working on

This one is made with the Portrait collection.....ooooo I love it I love it.  I am so seriously obsessed with Crate Paper.  This is a layout of Charlie's birth announcement (my husband took the great photo)

I don't usually put a LOT of journaling on my layouts but I have very specific memories of this photo being taken and I wanted to make sure I recorded them properly :)  I added the journaling to the red box, so it doesn't really interfere with the layout design but if you look closely you notice it.

Journaling reads "This photo was taken by your dad when you were only 2 weeks old.  I remember that it was the morning after we were first told about your Cystic Fibrosis.  I was lying there staring at you and feeling sad with a million thoughts running through my head.  I just wanted you to be healthy and happy and I was so sad for you because you'd have to go through so much.  While I was pondering all of this Robb got this beautiful photo of us.  We loved it so much we used it as your birth announcement, but whenever I see it I remember that difficult morning and how much I love you."

I also worked on one of the Pencil Line sketches for this week using the Very Virginia kit by Noel Mignon.com.  This kit never dies! I've been using it since January and still have plenty left.

Journaling reads: "March 1, 2011 Peggy and I took a stroll to the beach in Old Saybrook.  It was a cold, rainy day but I love to be at the beach no matter what the weather!"

Okay and lastly- big news! I'm going to be the Guest Designer over at Monique Griffith Designs this Friday :D  I'm quite excited to share some of my new projects with everybody!  So make sure you head on over to Monique's wonderful blog on Friday May 6th to see my projects :)  I wont give them away but let's just say there's lots and lots of PINK (from me?  who knew?)!

Pencil Lines Sketch/ Noel Mignon Challenge

Happy Easter everyone!  I have a double duty layout I made for the Noel Mignon Stamp Challenge (using a stamp on your project) and  it also uses last weeks Pencil Lines sketch too!  I hope you like it :) I used Truly Scrumptious by Noel Mignon which surprisingly worked quite well for this very boy colored layout.

I made this one using Jump and Jive, I thought the colors just worked perfectly.....and OH do i love those resin flowers!

I hope everyone has a great Easter (and may you find many eggs!)

Scrapbooking Meets Advertising

Hi everybody!! I have a fun project I worked on this week to share with you today :)  So a little backstory- my husband is a graphics/web designer/photographer for a furniture store and he makes a lot of the ads that go up within the store.  He came home on Wednesday frustrated because he couldn't think of anything for a Mother's Day sign (let's admit it, this isn't a man's strong suit).  I said "well gee I could come up with that in a flash" so we decided to make a few simple paper flowers and he would use them for the ad.

So upstairs I went to my scrapbooking room to make a cool card with flowers on it when Robb told me "Just put it on a white background!! Nothing else!"  UUUUMMMM whattttttt???  Just some flowers on a white background?  How boring!  So I made this boring stinky card that I did NOT like (using Delightfully Domestic from Noel Mignon)

But Robb had a vision and he was totally right in the end to have a stark white background.  This is what he did with it

Beautiful huh?  He's so talented :)  Robb's style is so clean and mine is way more convoluted haha.  So having that boring card lying around just drove me nuts so I knew I had to make it again, the RIGHT way this time.  So here's what I came up with.  It totally wouldn't have worked for the ad but at least I can give it to someone without being embarassed :P

And here's the comparison!  Hope you enjoyed my foray into the advertising world :D

Giveaway Update and Crate Paper "Emma's Shoppe" Layout

Hi everyone!  First of all, here's a layout I did for the Pencil Lines sketch challenge this week.  I used Emma's Shoppe to make a very girly themed page for Emma my dog :P  What can I say, I don't have a little girl but I loved this line so dog photo's it'll have to be haha.  Plus pictures of Emma using Emma's Shoppe just seemed appropriate to me :)  Hope you like it!

EDIT: WINNER HAS BEEN CHOSEN Now an update for my giveaway!  The first place winner never contacted me so I've decided to bump up all the winners (second place is now first place, third place is now second place).  So that leaves me needing one third place winner (who will get a big fat lot full of scrapbooking supplies).  So I will give that prize away to the FIRST PERSON that emails (not comments, EMAILS) me at GlueMeetsPaper@gmail.com.

Once we have our new third place winner I'll find out everyone's preferences and get your goodies sent out ASAP.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Layout about Charlie (what else?)

First of all, if you are Tracy Suzanne then you won my giveaway- you MUST email me (gluemeetspaper@gmail.com) in order to claim your prize, so please so do asap!

In other news my nanny called out sick today so I got to spend the day playing with Charlie and finishing up this layout!  Some of you super-detail oriented readers might have noticed a few references to the fact that Charlie has Cystic Fibrosis in some of my projects.  My husband and I have decided to document this part of his life just like we would anything else, so that's what my layout today is all about.  If you don't know what Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is: it's a chronic genetic illness that results in the production of sticky, thick mucus.  This mucus clogs up airways, damages lungs (it's a great place for bacteria to grow), and blocks digestive enzymes from being released.  That's a very  bare bones explanation.  So Charlie in particular needs lots of medication to keep his lungs clear and to be able to digest food.

Anyways, here's my layout- hope you like it!  I haven't done a two pager in ages!

If you'd like to know more about Charlie's 'routine' you can check out this blog post here: http://charliecyr.blogspot.com/2011/01/cystic-fibrosis-management-for-4-month.html

Wow--you are going all out with this giveaway! :) I love your project-the title just makes the page; it really defines that teddy bear as super scary! :) Charlie is ADORABLE! My oldest "baby" will be an official teenager in May...they grow up fast!

Awesome! Congratulations ladies!!  You rock!  Now you MUST email me (at gluemeetspaper@gmail.com) with your mailing address and I'll get your goodies sent out ASAP.  But you have to email me!  No I will not track you down trying to find you....I'd rather spend my free time scrapbooking ;)

Okay- and onwards!

Isn't it funny how sometimes you hate a layout but other people just love it?  I really dislike this layout- I spent days overthinking it and in the end just went with it because I couldn't think of any way to change it.  However, I keep getting lots of great feedback on it....wierd, eh?

So here are some layouts I kinda like....maybe you'll be more impressed than I am :P

And here are some I actually like :)

Most of these are from my Grandfather's 90th birthday party this past May, some of you long time followers might remember the Memory Album I made him :)

And a layout about my wonderful Peggy!  (that's my mom)  I've called her Peggy since I was in middle school, not sure exactly how it got started but I hardly ever call her 'mom' anymore.  I thought it would be a fun story to document :)

And of course I'll close out with some sweet pictures of Charlie at 2weeks old (made with the new Jump and Jive kit from Noel Mignon-- I think there's even a few left!  Hurry up!)

Okay I think I've caught you up with most of the work I've done while I didn't post for the past month! Phew!  See you soon!
