Fall themed layouts

Hi everyone!  I have some fall themed layouts to share today (the ST call ends on the 1st so I made sure to have all my fall themed photos scrapped by then!  Oooo how I love a deadline hehe).   The big ruffle flowers are by Precocious Paper....aren't they fabulous??  Most of these layouts were put together using a combination of Hudson Valley from NoelMignon.com and the Farmhouse chipboard/buttons by Crate Paper.

These last two projects were made for challenges over at Amy Heller's Class "Through the Kaleidoscope" over at TwoPeas.  Her class is really great and I love seeing her 'process' from start to finish.  This first one is for using analogous colors and adding an extra color (in this case turqoise) to create contrast.

This last layout challenge is to use a color you're not fond of using.  As many of you might know that color for me is typically red (I've used it about 4 times ever that I can think of?).  Here I combined it with gray, blue, and a little brown and I'm pretty happy with the result.  A rare 8.5x11 layout too!  Maybe my third one of those ever?  I already had the picture printed 5x7 and wanted to keep the big picture ratio on the layout so 8.5x11 it was!

And I also want to remind everyone that my class at Miss Arts Papercrafting School "Girly to Burly" is still available!! Make sure you go check it out :)

Pretty Little Studio

Hi everyone! I have a few new Pretty Little Studio projects to share today!  I'm anxiously awaiting my DT box with the awesome Sand Castle Collection.....have you seen it? It's divine, make sure you check it out HERE.  Just in time for summer :)

First is a project using the big new ombre trend.  you can see the border strips along the bottom have a gradient from light to dark from one side to the other.  You can see how I did this by hopping over to the PLS blog :)  Aren't these photos of Charlie too silly.....such a big dude standing there watching tv with no shirt lol.  Nice physique huh?  You couldn't imagine the amount of fat that goes into that boy and he still has that little six pack lol.

The next layout was made for an Out of the Box Inspiration Challenge- it was a photo inspiration of a little coffee mug and ring stain.  I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try making coffee rings on a layout.  Since I didn't own a stamp I just made my own using Distress Ink, a water spritzer, and the bottom of a coffee mug.  I love the way it came out, looks a bit more authentic than a stamp too IMO because the water makes the ink distribution a little more uneven.

Both of these layouts were made with the Monsieur Collection (make sure you go pick it up if you haven't already!).  Thanks for checking in- hope you had a great 3 day weekend (I'm taking a 5 day weekend! wahooo)

Halloween Layouts

Hi everyone! I'm here today to show some Halloween projects I made for the Scrapbook Trends Halloween Open Call.  I love these open calls because it always helps give me a direction to my scrapping (sometimes there are just too many photos to choose from!).  The themed calls also give me a deadline to have all of the layouts done, for example, I made sure to scrap all the Halloween photo's I had before this call ended.  So now I'm not super behind :)  Nice to have a little extra motivation!

Anyways here are the layouts and cards I made for the Scrapbook Trends and CARDS calls.  I was actually really disappointed that none of them were chosen for publication because they are some of my favorite layouts EVER.  I am so in love with Charlie's porcupine costume from last year haha :)  Oh well, maybe next month!

Mother's Day

Hiiiiii peoples!  Lots of posts lately, making up for the past few weeks when I haven't been very good about posting :)  Anyways I hope those of you that are mommies out there had a nice Mother's Day!!

I definitely did- my Mom and Dad came over so I cooked brunch, which was fun because I never have time to cook anymore!  Then Robb went off to work and Charlie and I had the day to ourselves.  He was actually cuddly (maybe he just knew it was Mother's Day lol) so that was a nice change of pace!

Here's the card I made for my mom....the inside has a drawing by Charlie (which also conveniently hides the stitching on the inside cover).  The felt rose is by Precocious Paper, so pretty!

And here is the card that Charlie/Bonnie (his nanny) made me!! Isn't it so adorable??!  I also got lots of flowers, a facial, a massage (looking forward to those last 2 a LOT), and my dad got me 4x six packs of non alcholic beer.  LOL He knows me all too well :)

Crate Paper Color Challenge

Hey everyone!!  Well, if you've been over to the Crate Paper blog today you might have noticed my layout won the color challenge (aqua/orange/white)!!  Wahoo :)  I am quite excited!!!  Here it is, I used doilies, squares of off white paper, and stitching to create the background.  I then misted over that with white mist to make the look a little more subtle.

Aren't these photos so cool BTW?  Robb finally convinced me to let him take a photo of a layout on a non-white background and i LOVE the outcome.

ANYWAYS....I also made this layout for the call as well.  I really like this layout about my carpool buddy, whose intials are KK (so we sometimes call her K^2, therein lies the title).  We have an hour (sometimes 1hr 20min) commute every morning and evening, so we spend a lot of time together! (those cute little felt rounds are by Precocious Paper!)

And last but not least is this layout titled "the Colors of Fall".  This wasn't made specifically for this challenge but it DOES fit in with the color scheme nicely, doesn't it? (butterfly is by Precocious Paper btw!)

Cystic Fibrosis Awareness/ Layouts

Hi everyone!!  Diiiiiiiiid you know that May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month?  Didja didja?  Unless you have a kid with CF (or you yourself have it!) my guess is that you didn't!  So here I am to make you aware :)

Most of you know that my son, Charlie, has Cystic Fibrosis.  For those of you that don't here's a basic breakdown of what it is:

CF is a chronic genetic illness that causes the body to produce excess thick sticky mucus.  This mucus clogs up the digestive system and most people with CF can't digest food, have trouble gaining weight, and have a host of   other digestive issues (CF specific diabetes, reflux, feeding tubes, etc etc).  The mucus also clogs up the lungs, damaging tissue, making it difficult to breathe, and making a nice cozy home for bacteria to thrive.  So along with the digestive issues (which is huge in itself) CF patients also have major lung problems.....many require lung transplants.  To battle all this mucus damage CF patients are on TONS of medication and must adhere to a very strict routine for maintaing respiratory health (including more medecine, puffers, nebulizers, shaking vests, chest physiotherapy, and on and on).  Fifty years ago most CF children didn't make it past elementary school-- now the median age is 30's (with early diagnosis, medication, and treatment).  I am very thankful for all the medecine they have to help treat and manage CF -but unfortunately there is no cure.

SOooooo Charlie has a very labor intensive routine (well not compared to some older CF patients but compared to most 21 month olds at least) that I've documented HERE.  I also like to scrap about Charlie's CF.  It's such a HUGE part of his life, and just his day to day routine, that it kind of seems like to a lie to scrapbook everything about him BUT this, KWIM?

So here's a few of the latest CF related layouts I've made, just in time for CF Awareness Month.  I used Noel Mignon's kit Homespun for all.  Enjoy!
